ITW Military GSE Selected to Power
F-35 Training Facility

Ground support leader ITW Military GSE is to supply 270Vdc electrical systems to power F-35 Lightning II fighter aircraft during training operations at the United States Air Force (USAF) base at Eglin, Florida.

“ITW Military GSE designed these power supplies with Lockheed Martin and BAE Systems specifically for the F-35. We are very proud to be part of the F-35 team and the future of ground support power for the USAF’s premier fighter jet program,” says Richard Hansen, General Manager, ITW Military GSE. ITW Military GSE is to supply 270Vdc power supply units that will be incorporated into the new F-35 training facilities at Eglin AFB Florida. The training facility will have three F-35 hangars dedicated to the training of USAF, USN, USMC, and Allied personnel. Deliveries are due to start early in 2010.

The Lockheed Martin F-35 Lightning II is a fifth-generation, single-seat, single-engine, stealth-capable military strike fighter, a multi-role aircraft that can perform close air support, tactical bombing, and air defense missions. The F-35 has three different models; one is the conventional takeoff and landing variant, the second is short takeoff and vertical-landing variant, and the third is a carrier-based variant.

ITW Military GSE 270Vdc equipment is already in use at Eglin AFB Fl., Lockheed Martin Fort Worth, Tx., PAX River NAS, Md., and Edwards AFB, Ca. providing electrical services during ground maintenance of F-35 Lightning II.
